Banish bad habits

National Physiotherapy BackWeek is an opportune time to have all your bad postural habits seen to.

We all have postural habits, like sleeping on our right (or left) side, or sitting at a slight angle when driving, which can have serious and debilitating consequences. Even habitually standing in a slouched position can place strain on the joints, ligaments and tendons, resulting in irritation, followed by inflammation and pain.

Take time out during this year’s extended National Physiotherapy BackWeek (3-16 September 2012) to get your whole body and its posture assessed by a physiotherapist.

Many shopping malls around the country will be hosting stands you can visit, free of charge, and physiotherapists will be visiting schools, workplaces and institutions as well.

A physiotherapist can do more than treating your pain – they can offer valuable advice and guidelines on how to best improve your posture and deal with everyday activities in the most posture-friendly way.

Visiting a physiotherapist can help get you back on your feet and re-engaged in all the activities that you love.
