Airfield Manager Dawie Pretorius and Airfield Secretary
and Administration Assistant Irmarie Jooste are
responsible for the day-to-day operations at Kitty
Hawk and together they ensure we can all enjoy a
safe, clean and efficient airport and operations.
Even though Dawie was only appointed to
his position six months ago, his affiliation with
Kitty Hawk dates back many years, as he was responsible
for many of the smaller building projects on the
site.
He has a passion for flying and spent
28 years of his career at aerospace and defence
technology conglomerate, Denel. He also managed
his own business for 15 years before joining Kitty
Hawk.
Dawie says he thoroughly enjoys the
Kitty Hawk environment and one of the first tasks
he set himself when he joined was to upgrade the
fuel bay, which now looks world-class!
Irmarie
has been with Kitty Hawk since 2008 and looks after
the important day-to-day administration and bookkeeping
of the fuel bay. She also manages general enquires,
particularly those on email. “Those can become quite
overwhelming,” smiles Irmarie.
There is
never a dull moment in her day, she confesses, and
says she thrives on the exciting milieu of the aviation
industry.
