IDA CARE Foundation

We bring you some heart-warming updates from the IDA CARE Foundation in this season of goodwill.

Two of our IDA CARE Foundation Trustees made us very proud when they took to the airwaves:

Donation of R30 000 towards caring for the Emery family triplets and their family.
The Emery family is unlike most you will ever come across. Rob and Chantel both got married after both having had children of their own. They then decided to have children together – which is not unlike many other couples have done.

There are two unusual realities in their case: Chantal fell pregnant with triplets! But when the babies came – way before their due date at just over six months – they realised there was a fourth baby boy!

Three of the babies were born at home – and Rob's 14-year old son had to help Chantel give birth at home. The fourth baby was born in hospital, surprising everybody. Sadly, little Bradley did not make it and died two weeks later. The second uniqueness about these births is that Chantel has been in a wheelchair since a car crash in 2008, which is why she did not know the babies were on their way and did not get to the hospital in time. This is truly a special family and they needed a little help.

Donation of R30 000 towards Doulos Sonskyn-hoekie pre-school
Doulos Armoedebediening looks after families who cannot look after themselves financially. These families live in squatter camps and are supported by organisations like Doulos. They also help with the education of the children of these families, as this is often neglected, which feeds the cycle of poverty. Doulos is reliant on donations for its work and are trying to put together a pre-school where children will receive the stimulation they need to be school-ready. They will also receive Occupational and other therapy when needed and, of course, the most basic: food to keep their stomachs full and their brains active and ready for learning.

What a blessing to end off this exciting year on a high
The IDA CARE Foundation has been busy and has managed to

  • Put together over 400 stationery packs for 2016
  • Pack 550 party packs by hand
  • Buy 350 gifts for various children’s homes and use more than 1000m² of gift wrap
  • Distribute all of this nationwide, where an endless amount of love was put into each Christmas delivery by the IDA CARE Foundation volunteers
This truly marks the IDA CARE Foundation’s most memorable year - by far - with achievements through generosity our Dealer Members can really be proud of.
