Dear Member,
One man's loss is another man's gain
The new car figures for March reflect a dismal picture to say the least, with a drop of 14% in sales year on year reported. While this is not good news for most, it does offer a glimmer of hope for most IDA Dealer Members.

The used vehicle market continues to strengthen each month, which is a positive development for dealers who specialise in the pre-owned environment. With used to new ratios last seen in December 2009, IDA Dealer Members are on the positive end of a concerning picture.

In this issue we also share important FIC guidance notes, look at understanding the basics of credit and highlight a new criminal trend at dealerships.

Important FIC guidance note on money laundering
Apart from criminalising the activities constituting money laundering, South African law also contains a number of control measures aimed at facilitating the detection and investigation of this type of misconduct. Please read FIC’s guidance note, which comes into effect on 25 April 2016.
