MISA in the community

As usual, MISA members are always eager to do their bit for their community. We look at a few recent highlights.

Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer (main photo)

Algoa FM presented a 5km Big Walk along the beachfront in Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth.

Monies raised go to CANSA, the Igazi Foundation and CHOC (Childhood Cancer Foundation of South Africa). CHOC, CANSA and Igazi Foundation received R100 000 each from the 2016 Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer.

The MISA team was joined by the Eastern Cape MISA Chairman, Warren Weir and his wife Vanessa and other MISA members to demonstrate their support for the worthy cause.

A special thanks to Heidi Reid and Michelle Marx for coordinating MISA's involvement in this event.

CANSA Shavathon

The CANSA Shavathon is an event where South Africans can show their support for those affected by cancer. Losing one’s hair is a common side-effect of cancer therapy, so shaving your head has become a symbolic gesture. This year, participants went 'pink' as part of the Shades of Pink, Spray & Donate drive.

Thank you to everybody who contributed towards making this years's drive bigger and better than ever before.

Pets and animals in need
A very successful MISA, P.A.I.N. (Pets and Animals in Need) drive was held in Claremont, Johannesburg.

Well done and a huge thank you go to MISA's Nicolene Watson and her team for their superb organisation. A special word of thanks goes to Yolindie and Riaan of Fred and Martie's Soup kitchen, who hosted the event. On the day, 151 animals were treated, 33 sterilisations were booked, and happy faces and wagging tails were aplenty!
