Bidvest McCarthy Nissan successfully pilots disability awareness workshops

The senior management team at Bidvest McCarthy Nissan has successfully piloted a Motor Industry Workplace Disability Management Project, which marks the first phase of MISA and the RMI’s joint Disability Management Project.

Nineteen sessions have been completed at six Bidvest McCarthy Nissan dealerships, with more than 233 attendees, including MISA’s disability champions.

The pilot also included a Capacity Building session for the Dealer Principals, who will be the Champions within Bidvest McCarthy.

The sessions were developed and delivered in a manner which serves to raise awareness of disabilities and are intended to equip both employees and employers with the best tools to manage disabilities within the workplace.

“The sessions were well attended and there was great interaction and participation in all of the sessions,” says Thandeka Phiri, MISA’s National Training Manager, who champions the project for MISA. “Each session had a combination of managers, supervisors and their reportees, which worked well.”
