| More Diversity, Better Business |
This Women’s Month issue of Heads Up is dedicated to all the unsung heroines in our industry.
We feature one of our female Dealer Members, Ursula Daniels, and get her take on what it's like to be a woman in the South African motor retail industry.
There is some business logic behind establishing more gender-diverse business teams: research released last year by MIT (the Massachusetts Institute of Technology) proved that when established professional teams switched from all-male or all-female to what they refer to as co-ed, they found that the greater diversity boosted their financial results by 41 percent.
According to the study’s co-author MIT economist, Sara Ellison, having a more diverse set of employees means you have a more diverse set of skills, which could result in a business that functions better.
Addressing the need for training
We realise the ever-increasing need from our Dealer Members for Dealer-specific training. To meet this need, we have acquired Complete F&I Solutions, an INSETA-accredited training provider. Interesting to note is that this business is run by two dynamic women, which now also increases our own gender diversity in Wheels Web. Please join me in welcoming Debbie Costopoulos and Lichelle Randall to our organisation.
Lastly, we would also like to remind our members to respond to the e-toll issue and take note of the FSB and FAIS Ombud levies which will be due soon.
