Stay focused on doing the best we can with what we have
As we speed towards Easter and the end of the first quarter of 2016, it is becoming increasingly evident that 2016 will not be an easy year for businesses large and small.

New vehicle sales, always a sound barometer of consumer confidence, attest to this, with further declines reported in both the light and medium commercial vehicle segments in the month of February.

Having said that, the phenomenal success of the new Toyota Hilux, should also give one hope. Customers will always buy cars if the combined package of product, price and sales experience is right.

For our Dealer Members, the decline in new vehicle sales continues to mark many opportunities, and even reason for optimism, albeit cautious.

This year, as an industry, we should batten down the hatches, get our respective houses in order and get the basics right. Instead of bemoaning the state of the economy or the interesting political times we are experiencing, let’s stay focused on doing the best we can with what we have.

As Paulo Coelho wrote, “Whenever you want to achieve something, keep your eyes open, concentrate and make sure you know exactly what it is you want. No one can hit their target with their eyes closed.”
